The iPad can be used as a monitor. With the "Two Side" function, you can use the iPad as a display screen to extend or mirror the Mac desktop.

To use Sidecar to extend or mirror your Mac desktop, follow these steps on Macs and iPads that meet Sidecar system requirements.

You can use Sidecar wirelessly, but to keep iPad charging while you're using it, connect iPad directly to your Mac using the USB charging cable that came with iPad.

Start a "Side" session

1. If you are using macOS Big Sur, click the "Display" menu or menu bar in "Control Center", and then select Select your iPad from the menu.

2. If you are using macOS Catalina, click the "AirPlay" icon in the menu bar, and then select your iPad from the menu.

3. If you do not see the "AirPlay" icon, please select Apple menu > "System Preferences", click "Displays", and then select "Show Mirroring Options in Menu Bar ( when available)".

4. Or, move the window directly to iPad.

5. Alternatively, use the menu in the "Side" preferences to connect.

Switch to screen mirroring

1. By default, iPad will display an extension of the Mac desktop. You can move windows into it and use it like any other display.

2. To mirror the Mac display so that the two screens display the same content, please return to the "Display" menu or the "AirPlay" menu. This menu will be displayed during the use of "Span" A blue iPad icon, select the option to mirror your display.

End "Side" session

1. IfYou're using macOS Big Sur, return to the Display menu or menu bar in Control Center and choose your iPad again to disconnect.

2. If you are using macOS Catalina, please return to the "AirPlay" menu and select the option to disconnect.

3. Or use the "Disconnect" button in the upper sidebar on iPad or in Sidecar preferences on Mac.
