How to check when disk defragmentation is needed in Lenovo notebook VISTA

Lenovo notebook Vista has canceled the status icons in the disk defragmentation and fragmentation status analysis interface, so that users cannot visually see the fragmentation of the disk like in WinXP. In many cases, users do not know the fragmentation status of the disk at all. And whether it should be defragmented. In Windows Vista, there is no way to check the disk fragmentation statistics and whether it should be defragmented. It is possible even without installing other third-party tools, that is, through the command line tool Defrag.

To analyze the disk volume and understand whether it should be defragmented, you can follow the following steps:

1. Open a command line with administrator rights window, the specific steps are as follows:

(1) Click the Start button.

 (2) Enter "cmd" in the search box.

(3) Press the "Ctrl" key and the "Shift" key at the same time, and then press "Enter".

 (4) In this way, the opened command line window runs under administrator privileges.

2. Enter the following command: defrag -a.

This will perform a disk volume fragmentation analysis and display a summary of the analysis report. Depending on the size and degree of fragmentation of the hard drive, this operation takes anywhere from a few minutes to dozens of minutes. After completion, you can see the output.

3: If you want to see more detailed information, you can enter the following command: defrag -v.

This will display the full analysis and defragmentation report, although of course the operation will take longer.
