Acer notebooks follow these tips to check the volume control on your speakers, keyboard, or running program:
Some notebooks are equipped with external speakers that have independent external volume controls. Please check that the speaker volume is turned off completely.
When a red circle with a slash appears on the volume icon in the notification area, it means that the output volume of your speakers or headphones is set to mute mode, and you need to turn off mute:
Under Windows XP, click the volume icon in the notification area and uncheck the Mute checkbox.
Under Windows Vista or Windows 7, click the volume icon in the notification area, and then click the volume icon on the panel that opens.
Some programs, such as games or media players, have their own volume controls. Please make sure the volume of these programs is muted.
Some keyboards also have volume buttons that can control the playback volume. Please make sure the volume control on your keyboard is muted. If necessary, you can use the hotkeys to adjust:
Press FN + the up arrow to increase the volume.
Press FN+down arrow to decrease the volume.
